JRR Tolkien book news, new Tolkien book publications in 2007 & Tolkien books reviews

2007 was very much the best year in Tolkien book publications since 1992. It all began with some celebration editions for 70 years The Hobbit and 25 years Mr. Bliss. While we all expected a 30 anniversary edition of The Silmarillion we received something completely new: The Children of Hurin. Christopher Tolkien did edit and stitch together the tale of Children of Hurin, has it illustrated by Alan Lee and released it in various formats, ranging from paperback to super deluxe signed limited editions. It was a moment of great joy for all Tolkien fans and it is a year we will all remember for a very long time to come. We also so released the deluxe Tolkien collection and The History of the Hobbit by John D. Rateliff. Also in 2007 we saw the publication of some high quality editions by Walking Tree Publishers.

It is the third book in the History of the Hobbit boxed set, and is a slightly different version of the deluxe edition we published three years ago. Cover of the new edition of Mr. Bliss has been revealed

In Oktober 2007 we will also get a brand new edition of the story Mr. Bliss, written and illustrated by Tolkien himself. Originally published in 1982, the book has been out of print since the 1990s. This edition marks the 25th anniversary of publication. The silmarillion deluxe will match the specifications of The Children of Hurin deluxe

This is the latest info I received from David Brawn, the publishing director of Harper Collins. The Silmarillion deluxe will match the specifications of The Children of Hurin deluxe, as this is what some fans have written to us to as for. It will be a text edition, not the Ted Nasmith version, and is planned to be GBP 60, the same as The Hobbit and The Children of Hurin deluxe editions.  Read article
