After a fantastic 2005, celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of "The Lord of the Rings", we saw 2006 bring us Ring of Words: Tolkien and the Oxford English Dictionary and probably the most amazing Tolkien book ever published The J.R.R. Tolkien Companion & Guide by Christina Scull and Wayne Hammond. We also saw the publication of Michael Drout's J.R.R. Tolkien Encyclopedia: Scholarship and Critical Assessment.

The Children of Hurin De Luxe edition

Harper Collins is still working on the details of the De luxe edition and they are still being agreed with the Tolkien Estate and Alan Lee, but we can confirm that a De Luxe edition of "The Children of Hurin" will be released. Hobbits around the Globe - gallery

A major update of the gallery of translations of the Hobbit has been made: Hobbits around the Globe. Thanks to a nice program called galerie it will be very easy to add new hobbits in the future. Next week i will start adding some galleries for other Tolkien books. In the previous article I announced the publication of The J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide on 2 October 2006 (with possible delay). Some people sent me emails to ask where to find the book because they could not find it in their local bookstore. Tolkien Books published in October 2006 - the month of Michael D.C. Drout

While last month the world was talking about the publication of the new Tolkien book, The Children of Hurin, it seems this month is dominated by new publications by Michael D.C. Drout. Most people will know him from Beowulf and the Critics, published in December 2002, which was the result of a discovered manuscript for "Beowulf and the Critics" while working on a project in an Oxford library in 1996.  Read article

Tolkien Books re-issued by Harper Collins in 2006

We will see all major Tolkien works in a new jacket this year. The secondary works are all published in paperback format, while we see some nice re-issues of The Silmarillion (the 30th ann. The Children of Hurin - More detailed info

Only one week after the announcement of the new Tolkien book, we can already give a lot more information about the UK edition of the book. The book will be published in the UK on 16 april 2007 and will be a hardback with no less then 320 pages! It will be the first complete standalone Middle-earth book by J.R.R. Tolkien since The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, posthumous Silmarillion in 1977.  Read article

The Hobbit's reader's guide for students in Spanish

Spanish publishing house Espasa Calpe is going to publish The Hobbit's reader's guide for students (in Spanish), as part of the relaunching of their Coleccion Austral, dedicated to the republishing of classical authors of universal literature.
