2010 was very much a silent year when it comes to new Tolkien book publications, but none the less still very interesting. We saw the release of a one of a kind limited edition poster of tolkien's poem Oliphaunt, the History of Middle-earth got a reprint and is now available again through print on demand, the 2011 Tolkien calendar took a completely new direction and displays the art by Cor Blok, the maps of Middle-earth saw a new reprinting and makeover and many books by and about Tolkien where released as paperbacks. All together a lot of new paths in Tolkien book publication where tried and I'm certain that next year we will see the release of some other print on demand books and get some more by Cor Blok. Since 2012 will be the year of The Hobbit, I'm convinced a lot of publishers will wish to release some non-movie related items before the storm of Hobbit related movie items, publications and bookcovers take over the market again.
