This is a very early 1st edition (2nd, 2nd, 1st impressions, ie 1954,1955, 1955) set fully rebound in burgundy red leather.
No inscriptions, all maps present, very clean interiors, decorated endpapers.
The spines have gilt titles and design with raised bands.
All edges gilt (some slight marks)
An early first-edition set in matching burgundy leather, including the first impression of The Return of the King.
