The Adventures of Tom Bombadil – J.R.R. Tolkien – First Edition, First Impression, 1962
George Allen & Unwin first impression in the original matching Pauline Baynes dust jacket
London: George Allen & Unwin, 1962. First edition, first impression. Tolkien’s collection of sixteen poems is presented in the publisher’s pictorial boards with the matching dust jacket, both designed and illustrated by Pauline Baynes. The book is clean and bright, without a previous owner’s name or writing. The jacket has modest rubbing at the folds and extremities, slight colour loss at the spine ends and a small closed tear near the top of the spine, all visible in the photographs.
Pauline Baynes’s colour and monochrome illustrations remain fresh and attractive throughout.
A bright and attractive first impression of Tolkien’s much-loved poetry collection, complete in its original Pauline Baynes dust jacket.
