The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Published by Allen & Unwin in 1963.
A beautiful copy of a very collectable book.
This is the Fourteenth impression (overall) published in 1963, in its original and lovely Fourteenth impression dustjacket.
The book and dustjacket are both in Near Fine condition.
The only fault is a slight bit of tape residue on the back of the dustjacket, and a small tape line transferred to the boards.
Very likely the tape residue is from an early style dustjacket protector, which has kept the dustjacket in fabulous condition.
There is also a previous owner's name and bookplate (same) to the first blank page.
The maps show no foxing, clean and bright, tiny bit of tape transfer under the front and rear flap. The dustjacket is clean and bright, not price clipped, with virtually no loss or edgewear .
The books cover shows no soiling, with the afore mentioned residue, and a little light fading to the edges.
The corners are not bumped, and show no wear or fraying whatsoever.
A wonderful collectable copy.
Very hard to find a pre 1965 copy in this Near Fine condition.
Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions.
