The Two Towers is a 1st impression published 1954.
The Return of the King is a 1st impression published 1955, 1st State with the signature mark '4' and the infamous slipped type on page 49.

All original maps are present and in Near Fine condition. All three books are in their original dustjackets, All have the same owner's bookplate under the flap on the front endpaper. A couple have gift inscriptions or previous owners name as well. The Fellowship has some offsetting on the front endpapers, from newspaper articles laid in. None are price clipped, and they have only the most minor edgewear or chips to the tips of the spine, along with a few splits to the folds of the spine. The splits have some tape repairs to the interior, does not show on the outside. The spines are unfaded, and show only light tanning, much less than the norm. Minor soiling from handling over the years. The text block is clean, bright and tight, without any internal foxing or markings, top stain is unfaded. The boards are clean and unmarked, gilt is bright, slightly dulled on the Return of the King.
