It must be well known by now that next to a Tolkien book fan I'm also a lover of audiobooks. Normally I always write an article about them as soon as new editions of Tolkien audiobooks come out, for example in 2008 when BBC AudioBooks America released The Lord of the Rings Dramatization, in 2009 when HighBridge Company released a very nice The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Audiobook set with cover art by John Howe or last year when HarperCollins released The Tales from the Perilous Realm unabridged Audio Edition. This year we saw the re-release of the BBC Radio Dramatisations of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by BBC Audiobooks in October. Because Christmas is coming closeby I thought it was time to write a small article about it, since I believe to be the perfect Christmas gift for Tolkien lovers.
It is so, as written in the Guardan, this collection of audiobooks is "For those who find the books too long-winded and the films too noisy, this is the perfect way to assimilate the myth and magic of Middle-earth". I myself can enjoy both the books, the movie and the audiobooks and have enjoyed the BBC recordings several times.
For those who have not read The Hobbit yet and are not into books can now listen to the story and in one go relive The Lord of the Rings. For thos who are looking for a Christmas gift for a Tolkien fan, this is the gift to get!
