A four-volume set bringing together the first Polish edition of The Hobbit, published in 1960, and the first Polish edition of The Lord of the Rings, published in three volumes in 1961–1963. The trilogy comprises Wyprawa, Dwie wieże and Powrót króla. Four folding maps are recorded with the set.

Later full-leather bindings with raised bands, gilt lettering and decorative panels. The Hobbit carries a gilt dragon with hand-coloured details; the trilogy has Eye of Sauron designs with surrounding inscriptions. Marbled page edges and endpapers, retained original paper covers and a decorated presentation case with a circular opening complete the set. These are custom bindings around the original Polish editions, not original publisher-issued leather bindings.

Condition and photographs



Very good overall. An ownership stamp is present on a title page, and the map edges have minor defects. Please examine the complete photographs for the condition of the individual volumes.
