The Hobbit – First Edition, 4th Impression (1946)
Published by George Allen & Unwin, London – with Original Dust Jacket
This is the fourth impression of the first edition of The Hobbit, published in 1946. Printed shortly after WWII, it uses the same sheets as the third impression (1942) and is distinguished by the “Book Production War Economy Standard” statement. Only 4,032 copies were issued. This copy is unrestored and in superb condition — an increasingly scarce find.
