De Hobbit — pink-cover Dutch Prisma paperback, incomplete copy
Max Schuchart’s Dutch translation in the distinctive Cees Kelfkens wrappers.
Dutch Prisma paperback, number 529, with pink pictorial wrappers and blue spine and rear-cover bands. The rear wrapper advertises In de ban van de ring (Prisma 1111–1113) and Sprookjes van Tolkien (Prisma 1500), and carries the code 2750044. The surviving contents page and map agree with the Dutch Prisma text. These points identify the edition family, but the pink design was reused and does not establish a printing.
Publication year and printing unidentified. The opening pages, including the title and copyright leaves, have been torn out. I cannot assign a specific date or printing number; this is not offered as a first printing.
Condition
Incomplete copy, opening at the contents page. Wrappers rubbed and creased, with worn edges and staining to the rear; inside covers foxed and paper browned. The map and sample text leaves are present as illustrated. No claim of complete collation is made.
An incomplete Dutch Prisma Hobbit retaining Cees Kelfkens’ striking pink cover, with its missing opening leaves and unidentified printing clearly recorded.
