This charming fantasy was written by Tolkien in 1925 for his son Michael and remained unpublished during his lifetime. It first appeared in book form in 1998, edited by Christina Scull and Wayne G. Hammond from Tolkien’s original manuscript.
The story follows Rover, a dog turned into a toy, who embarks on a series of imaginative adventures involving the Man-in-the-Moon, sea serpents, dragon-moths and the Great White Dragon.
Illustrated by J.R.R. Tolkien himself. The volume includes three colour plates and two black-and-white illustrations on inserted plates, reproduced from Tolkien’s original artwork.

Near Fine in Near Fine dustwrapper. The green cloth boards are clean and firm, with sharp corners and no fading. The binding remains tight and square. The pages are fresh and bright, free from inscriptions or markings. The dustwrapper is clean and glossy, with only minimal signs of handling and no significant tears or loss.
