This American edition contains Tolkien’s seminal essay
On Fairy-Stories, together with
Leaf by Niggle, issued in a compact and elegant format. The volume represents the first U.S. appearance of this collected form under this title.
The dust jacket features the striking red and black “Tree and Leaf” design to the front panel, with publisher’s advertisements for
The Hobbit,
The Lord of the Rings, and
The Adventures of Tom Bombadil to the rear panel.
Condition:
A near fine copy in near fine dust jacket. The cloth is clean and fresh, with bright gilt lettering. Binding firm and square. Internally clean, with no inscriptions noted. The dust jacket remains crisp and well-presented, with only light handling wear and gentle toning visible. A very attractive example of this increasingly sought-after early U.S. Tolkien title.
Photographs shown are of the exact copy offered.
