This important scholarly edition reproduces the original 1937 first edition text of Chapter 5:

“THE HOBBIT OR THERE AND BACK AGAIN BEING THE RECORD OF A YEARS JOURNEY MADE BY BILBO BAGGINS OF HOBBITON COMPILED FROM HIS MEMOIRS BY J.R.R. TOLKIEN AND PUBLISHED BY HOUGHTON MIFFLIN AND CO”.
ISBN 0-395-47690-9.
Condition:
A very solid and well-preserved copy. The dust jacket remains bright with only light edge wear and minor rubbing at the spine ends. The boards are clean, binding firm, and the pages fresh and unmarked. No ownership inscriptions are visible in the photographed opening pages. Overall a Very Good+ example of this increasingly collectible first printing.
Photographs shown are of the exact copy offered.
