This scholarly work presents the most comprehensive grammatical study of Sindarin, Tolkien’s Elvish language, based directly on Tolkien’s linguistic writings and internal historical development. It remains an essential reference for Tolkien scholars, linguists, and serious students of Middle-earth.
This is the hardcover edition, bound in the publisher’s original silver-grey cloth boards, with blue and black lettering and decorative Elvish motifs to the upper board and spine. The volume was issued without a dust jacket, as published.
The copyright page confirms publication by The University of Utah Press, © 2004, with ISBN 0-87480-800-6 (hardcover; alkaline paper). The printing number line is present, indicating a standard early printing of the first edition.
Condition
This copy is in Near Fine condition. The boards are clean and bright, with sharp corners and no notable wear. The spine is straight and solid. Internally, the pages are fresh, clean, and unmarked throughout.
The book is no longer in the publisher’s shrinkwrap, but remains an unused, carefully handled copy, presenting essentially as new.
