J.R.R. Tolkien – The Lord of the Rings – 50th Anniversary Edition – Deluxe Leatherbound
Houghton Mifflin One-Volume Deluxe Edition – Black Leather – Sealed in Publisher’s Slipcase
The deluxe 50th Anniversary Edition of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by Houghton Mifflin Company in 2004 to commemorate fifty years since the work’s original publication. This edition represents the most luxurious American anniversary issue of Tolkien’s masterpiece.
This is the one-volume deluxe leatherbound edition, bound in black leather with gilt lettering and Tolkien’s monogram to the spine, gilt page edges, and a ribbon marker. The text is the fully corrected and newly reset anniversary text, incorporating decades of accumulated corrections and refinements.
The volume includes two fold-out two-colour maps and a colour insert reproducing leaves from the Book of Mazarbul. It is housed in the publisher’s original black slipcase, which retains the original 50th Anniversary promotional label describing the contents and original retail price.
This copy remains sealed in the original shrink-wrap, exactly as issued by the publisher, and has never been opened.
Condition
Fine / As New. The book and slipcase are still sealed in the original shrink-wrap. No handling wear is visible through the wrap, and the set remains in untouched, collector-grade condition.
An exceptional sealed example of the deluxe 50th Anniversary Lord of the Rings, increasingly scarce in unopened condition.
