The front cover shows Smaug sprawled over his hoard, with the title The Hobbit in large gold/orange lettering, and “Collins Readers” printed to the upper edge. The spine is lettered “Collins Readers” at the head, with The Hobbit and “J.R.R. Tolkien” below. The rear board carries the ISBN barcode panel and publisher information, with the cover artwork continuing along the left side.

This copy includes the fold-out map Thror’s Map (printed in black with red detail), as shown in the photographs.

Condition:
A very clean, well-presented example. Boards are bright and unfaded, with sharp colour to the Smaug artwork. Binding is sound, pages are clean, and no inscriptions are visible in the photographed opening pages. The fold-out map is present and opens well. Any minor handling marks are purely superficial and best judged from the close-up photographs provided.
