The copyright pages identify this as the edition produced for Readers Union members in 1960. The volumes are bound in matching brown cloth with gilt spine lettering and the Readers Union device. Each retains a folding map at the rear. This set is offered
without dust jackets.
Condition:An attractive used set with bright spine gilt, rubbing and scattered marks to the cloth, and bumped corners and spine ends. The pages and edges show age toning, with occasional light spotting and some creased page corners.
A tear rises from the lower edge of page 156 of The Two Towers into the printed text, clearly shown in photograph 26. All three folding maps are present, shown folded in the photographs. Please consult the full gallery for the visible condition of this set.
