The Brothers Hildebrandt: Their Tolkien Years — 2002 Calendar

Published by Entertainment Calendar LLC, ISBN 1587740559. Twelve monthly illustrations revisit Greg and Tim Hildebrandt’s Tolkien paintings of the 1970s. Archival sketches, photographs and biographical material accompany the artwork. Smaug appears on the front cover.

This signed copy

The January illustration of Bilbo is signed by both Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. These signatures are within the calendar itself, rather than on a separate bonus print. The photographs show the cover, the signed January page and the back cover, with the original card mailing packaging.

Well-preserved, with bright colours and light edge wear from handling. The signatures are clear. The remaining monthly pages are not individually pictured.

Both artists’ signatures above Bilbo make this retrospective of the Hildebrandts’ Tolkien years a particularly personal collectible.
