The Hobbit (1976), published by George Allen & Unwin for the Folio Society, features Tolkien’s original illustrations, including maps and colour plates. It is bound in quarter leather with cloth sides, decorated with a striking gilt labyrinth motif, and housed in its original slipcase.

The Lord of the Rings (1977) is presented in three volumes — The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King — each in light grey quarter-bound leather with cloth sides. The bindings feature the iconic gilt labyrinth design by Jeff Clements.

The edition is set in 11-point Barbour type with Libra for display, printed by W & J Mackay Limited on Guard Bridge Silver City paper, and bound in quarter basil with Scholoco Coloreta cloth sides, blocked with a special design by Jeff Clements.
