Condition report:
A clean and attractive copy showing moderate signs of careful reading.

The front cover retains excellent colour and remains very attractive, with only light rubbing along the edges and corners, a little age toning to the white upper margin, and minor shelf wear. The rear cover is clean and complete with light handling wear and some faint age toning. The spine is complete and square, showing moderate rubbing, several reading creases and small areas of surface loss to the blue panel, together with light wear at the head and foot, but remains entirely sound and fully legible.

Internally the book is remarkably clean. The paper has naturally toned with age, as expected for Prisma editions, but remains fresh and supple. On the title page is a contemporary handwritten gift inscription reading:

"Van harte Mariet
van de 6°.
Ina. Aadje,
Ineke, Mieke Y."

Apart from this period inscription, no ownership stamps, annotations or other markings were observed. The text pages are clean throughout with only light age toning.

Summary:
A very appealing example of the Dutch Prisma-Boeken edition of De Hobbit, preserving the iconic Cees Kelfkens cover in bright colours. Although bearing a contemporary gift inscription and moderate spine wear, it remains a clean, honest and highly collectible copy of one of the most recognizable Dutch Tolkien paperbacks.

An increasingly sought-after Dutch Tolkien edition, prized for its distinctive graphic design and its place in the publishing history of De Hobbit in the Netherlands.
