This is the 1993 First Edition, First Printing of Morgoth’s Ring, Volume 10 in The History of Middle-earth series, published by HarperCollins, London. The copyright page lists only the 1993 date with no indication of later impressions, confirming this as the true first printing. The dustjacket carries the original £25.00 net price on the front flap.

Morgoth’s Ring presents the first part of the later Silmarillion writings, including “Ainulindalë”, “The Annals of Aman”, and the “Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth”. These texts, drawn from J.R.R. Tolkien’s final decades of work, offer a profound re-shaping of the mythology and provide essential insight into the metaphysics, cosmology and theological structure of Arda.

Bound in the publisher’s distinctive purple boards, lettered in bright gilt to the spine, the cloth is clean and sharp, with only the faintest marking to the upper board. The gilt titling remains crisp. The page edges are clean, with only a small mark to the lower edge as shown in the photographs.

The dustjacket is likewise in very good condition: a little mild surface rubbing to the glossy finish and minor shelfwear to the edges, but no tears, chips or significant creasing. The jacket retains strong colour, clear lettering and a clean rear panel. Now protected in a removable archival sleeve.

Internally the book is clean and free from inscriptions. The binding is tight and square, and the pages are bright, showing only very slight age-toning typical of early 1990s HarperCollins printings. All contents, including the detailed textual apparatus and Christopher Tolkien’s extensive editorial commentary, are present and unmarked.

Increasingly scarce in genuine first-printing state, and especially so in this clean condition. A desirable copy of one of the most important volumes in the series, containing some of the deepest and most influential writings of Tolkien’s later legendarium.
