A Spring Harvest by Geoffrey Bache Smith, Erskine Macdonald 1918.
Anthology of poetry by G.B. Smith with short introductory note by J.R.R. Tolkien, discussing the dates and circumstances in which the poems were composed
The posthumous collection of poems by Geoffrey Bache Smith, Tolkien's friend and fellow member of the T.C.B.S. Tolkien helped prepare the volume for publication and contributed a short introductory note concerning the circumstances in which the poems were written.
This copy is recorded in the original catalogue with its original dustwrapper and a neat inscription on the flyleaf. The catalogue describes the wrapper as darkened on the spine but otherwise intact. The supplied photograph shows the front panel, with green lettering and border, age-toning, scattered spots and marks, and light edge wear.
Only the jacket front is photographed here; the inscription, interior and spine are not illustrated. The flyleaf inscription is not described as being by Tolkien.
A moving early association with Tolkien's literary circle, in a copy retaining its original dustwrapper.
