Farmer Giles of Ham (Advance Uncorrected Proof)
J.R.R. Tolkien; jacket artwork by Roger Garland.
Houghton Mifflin, 1990.
An American advance proof in plain white card wrappers, accompanied by the separate colour dust jacket featuring Roger Garland's artwork.
Tolkien's comic tale follows Farmer Giles and his encounters with a giant and the dragon Chrysophylax, in a story of unexpected heroism, bargaining and rural common sense.
Very Good, with age-toning to the wrappers and paper and light edgewear. The illustrated dust jacket is present, with some toning and light wear.
A distinctive proof pairing Tolkien's comic storytelling with Roger Garland's jacket artwork.
