A paperback copy bearing white IN LIEU OF GALLEYS labels on both front and rear covers. These labels identify its promotional presentation; they do not, by themselves, establish that the text is an uncorrected proof.

The title page identifies Robert Eaglestone as editor and Continuum, London and New York, as publisher. The copyright page is dated 2005 and prints both the hardback ISBN 0-8264-8459-X and paperback ISBN 0-8264-8460-3. It credits typesetting to RefineCatch and printing and binding to MPG Books, Bodmin, Cornwall.

This collection examines Tolkien’s work and its adaptations through a range of critical approaches. The photographed contents include Michael D. C. Drout on Tolkien criticism, Barry Langford on time, Sue Zlosnik on Gothic echoes and Adam Roberts on the Ring.

Glossy illustrated wrappers, with cover concept credited to Richard Crookes. Light surface rubbing and handling wear are visible, with small rubbed areas at the corners and slight edge curling. The photographed interior pages appear clean, with mild toning.

A distinctive labelled review-format copy for a collection of Tolkien criticism and publishing material.
