An uncorrected proof of this illustrated biography of Tolkien for younger readers. The bright blue printed wrappers identify it as an “Uncorrected Proof”; the rear states “Not for Sale” and “For Promotional Purposes Only”, explaining that quotations should be checked against the finished book.

The copyright page is dated 1996 and gives ISBN 0-15-298847-5. Neimark follows Tolkien’s life and imaginative world, with illustrations by Brad Weinman.

The wrappers show light rubbing, edge and corner wear, small creases and surface marks. A conspicuous rectangular darker patch with a small pale abrasion overlaps the author’s name on the front cover. There is also a small nick at the lower edge of the front wrapper. The photographed interior pages appear clean, but the images do not establish the condition of every leaf.
