The third volume of The History of Middle-earth, containing The Lay of the Children of Húrin and The Lay of Leithian with Christopher Tolkien’s editorial commentary.

This paperback is accompanied by an original Unwin Hyman publicity sheet headed “For Review”. The sheet specifies publication on 24 September 1987, the Unwin Paperbacks imprint and an original price of £3.95. It has a horizontal mailing fold.

Condition


The illustrated covers show edge and corner wear, creasing and surface marking, with some spine creasing. There is pronounced age-toning and spotting to the inner covers and page edges. This is a review copy with its publisher’s sheet, not an uncorrected proof.
