Sammlung Göschen: Germanische Sprachwissenschaft Von Dr. Richard Loewe.
Zweite Auflage; Leipzig, G.J. Göschen'sche Verlagshandlung, 1911.
From the personal working library of J.R.R. Tolkien. It is signed by him on the top of the inside front page (J.R.R. Tolkien Exeter Coll) and has the "From the Library of J.R.R. Tolkien" sticker at the bottom left of the inside cover.
The front shows an unusual Tolkien signature (JRRT), showing the three dots and curly T - nice example of tolkien's search for a monogram.
This little book only shows a bit of aging, else about fine.
Several pages with annotations in pencil (in the hand of J.R.R. Tolkien); pages 80, 88, 101.
Some small corrections added in black ink on page 133.
On the front page is a list of several books on "Germanische Sprachwissenschaft", where someone marked 5 books in pencil and checked 1 - might be interesting to see if these books were in tolkien's personal library.
Very nice book from tolkien's personal library, showing two very nice early signatures.
Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions.
