Houghton Mifflin , 1965/1965/1965 1st Editions, 16th imp./13th imp./13th impression.
The final printings of the 1st US Edition.
An exceptional and lovely set of first editions of this classic of fantasy literature.
The set is housed in a custom marbled paper slipcase to show and protect this beautiful set.
The set is all original cloth with the correct original dustjackets.
The dustjackets are all in Very Good Plus condition, with bright colors and only the slightest fading to the spines, each with a very few chips and minor loss to the edges.
The Fellowship of the Ring, has a bump to the top front corner, which has wrinkled and has split the wrapper with a closed tear approx 1" down the fold.
Minor archival repair to the reverse, leaving minor loss to the closed tear. No foxing or offsetting to the endpapers, as is so often found.
All the rest of the pages, and edges are clean and crisp.
The Two Towers shows virtually no faults, with a previous owners name, and the most minor of rubbing to the tips of the spine, with no loss.
The Return has the most minor of loss to the bottom of the spine, and no soiling to the book or pages. Gilt is again slightly dulled. Else Near Fine.
The dustjackets exhibit all the correct issue points for the books, including the correct price, and color combination.
The books are tight and clean without foxing, fading, and none are price clipped.
Besides being a truly beautiful looking set, this set is very collectable.
The original maps are present in all three volumes, no extra folds or tears noted.
Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
