This beautifully produced edition of The Hobbit was issued by Unwin Hyman in 1987 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original 1937 publication. Only 500 numbered copies were printed, and the first 100 copies were hand-signed by Christopher Tolkien on a limitation page. This is copy number 23, making it one of the earliest and most sought-after in the run.
