Tolkien replies regarding his reasons for writing LOTR - ending by saying 'The Lord of the Rings' was a deliberate attempt to write a large-scale adult fairy story'. Very beautiful Tolkien signature.
No foxing. The maps are in good condition. Matching bindings, unfaded and bright.
Dust-jackets are all now in archival quality sleeves.
The set is all Near Fine to Very Good Plus, all unclipped, and virtually untanned dustjackets, (very unusual to be this clean and white). The original cloth boards are all uniformly clean on all three books.
Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions.
