The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Published by Allen & Unwin in 1961.
A beautiful copy of a very collectable book.
The book is in Good condition. Just some minor browning to the bottom and top of the spine that was exposed to the light. Some minor foxing to be found in the textblock and on the edges. No previous owner's name or any other writing in the book.
The books cover is clean, bright, with the tiny bit of browning to the spine top and bottom edge. The title page has some stains.
Minor bumps or bruises to the corners, with a light bit of pushing to the spine ends.
The map endpapers are clean and bright, unmarked. The boards are the original green cloth with dark blue stamping of tolkien's own Mountains and Dragon design, with minor bumped corners, and minor fading of the green covers.
The title verso has the full printing history up to this thirteenth impression of 1961.
The original dustjacket is marked 13th impression, and has some loss at the top and botton of the spine, as some rubbing. Someone thought it a good idea to plasticize the jacket to preserve it in the condition it was at. The inside shows tears and brown stains, not visible on the outside.
But overal an amazing copy!
A beautiful copy, of an early printing, of this much sought after children's classic.
