The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien published by HarperCollins in 1998 is bound in cloth and leather, with slipcase. It is a very rare item (there are not many books signed by Christopher Tolkien on the market).

This book rarely comes up for sale and when it does, it has almost always been opened and handled & #8211; making this unopened copy even more special. The pictures you see below are from another, opened book, but remember that this auction is for a sealed copy.

Just take a look at some of the pictures of the plates by Ted Nasmith. They're beautiful, as are the maps in the opening and closing flaps of the book.
