The Maps of Tolkien's Middle-Earth - Brian Sibley & John Howe - Sealed First US Edition 2003
Houghton Mifflin, Boston and New York, 2003; first US edition of this boxed map collection, ISBN 978-0-618-39110-3.
Brian Sibley's illustrated guide explores the geography, history and journeys associated with four central regions of Tolkien's legendarium. John Howe's detailed cartography presents Wilderland, Middle-earth, Beleriand and Numenor as four separate large-format maps, each approximately 28 by 28 inches, housed with the accompanying 80-page hardback in the publisher's pictorial box.
The photographed copy remains factory sealed and therefore unused. Its original US retail price sticker of $29.95 is still present. The outer box appears bright and well preserved beneath the plastic, while the shrinkwrap itself shows light handling, local creasing and small splits or openings around some edges and corners. Because the set has not been opened, the internal components have not been individually inspected.
Condition:
Near fine sealed set overall. The contents are unopened; the outer shrinkwrap has modest shelf and handling wear, including localized creases and small edge or corner splits visible in the photographs.
The photographs show the exact copy offered.
An especially attractive unopened example of John Howe's celebrated cartographic vision of Tolkien's world.
