De Hobbit — Dutch seventh printing (1970), Cees Kelfkens cover

This seventh Dutch printing of De Hobbit appeared in 1970 as Prisma book 529. Max Schuchart’s Dutch translation is presented in Cees Kelfkens’s distinctive pink illustrated paperback cover. The copyright page identifies the seventh printing and credits Kelfkens for the cover. The two maps are printed at the front of the volume, with their place names in Dutch.

The copy’s visual identity is unusually strong for a small-format Prisma paperback: Kelfkens places a group of stylised figures against a pink ground, while the publisher’s blue strip continues onto the spine. The photographed copyright page fixes the printing statement, and the map openings show the Dutch place names as printed in this edition. The book is offered as a 1970 seventh printing, not as a first printing of the translation.
