Although marked as the 1st Impression of the 1991 Edition, this book was not issued until 1998. At least one impression of the 1991 Edition had been issued previously with a John Howe illustrated dustwrapper but was not issued in this slipcase.
The Fellowship of the ring has ISBN 0 261 10231 1 and published by HarperCollins in 1991, 11th impression.
The Two Towers has ISBN 0 261 10232 X and published by HarperCollins in 1991, 8th impression.
The Return of the King has ISBN 0 261 10233 8 and published by HarperCollins in 1991, 8th impression.

In The Fellowship of the Ring, the map showing A Part of The Shire appears on page 18.
In all three volumes, the map of The West of Middle-earth at the End of the Third Age and the Map of Gondor, Rohan and Mordor appear spread over the final pages. The maps were redrawn by Stephen Raw in 1994.
