The map endpapers are clean and bright, unmarked.

The title verso has the full printing history up to this Fifth Impression 1985.
This edition includes several black and white and color illustrations by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Also has the original dust jacket design by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The boards are the original dark green cloth with gold stamping of tolkien's name, The hobbit, publsihers name and rune design on the spine.
The top stain is light green and has not faded.

The dustjacket is price clipped and in near fine condition.
