The Fellowship of the Ring in 1954. The cover design is based on artwork by J.R.R. Tolkien and features the distinctive gold/bronze background with the Ring motif and Eye device to the front cover.
The edition includes the map showing
A Part of the Shire on page 20. The 1980 version of the map of
The West of Middle-earth at the End of the Third Age and the map of
Gondor, Rohan and Mordor are printed inside the upper and lower covers, which are formed as fold-out flaps.
