Hardcover Three-Volume Edition – Publisher’s Illustrated Slipcase – Sealed
A complete three-volume hardcover boxed set of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2001. The set comprises the three individual volumes in matching bindings, housed in the publisher’s original illustrated slipcase.
The set contains:
The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, each bound in black cloth with gilt lettering and Tolkien’s monogram to the spines. The volumes are issued as a coordinated hardcover set and presented in the publisher’s slipcase marked “Three-Volume Edition”.
The illustrated slipcase and dust jackets feature photographic imagery derived from the New Line Cinema motion picture adaptations directed by Peter Jackson, released contemporaneously with this edition. The text itself remains Tolkien’s complete and unabridged work.
