The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Published by Houghton Mifflin in 1958, from sheets printed in Great Britain.
The book is in Very Good condition, with a little soiling to the edges and some minor marking from previous non-archival dustjacket protector. No names, writing, offsetting or foxing noted. Some light wear to the bottom of the spine, showing a little cracking but no fraying. No other wear noted, color is light green cloth with blue stamping of Title to front boards. Blue stamped Title, Dwarves Hat, Author and publisher to the spine. The title verso has no printing history, but the dustjacket is marked as the 10th impression, and all points are consistent with the 10th printing as noted on Wikipedia website.
The dustjacket is in Very Good Plus/Near Fine condition, with only the most minor of loss or rubbing to the top of the spine, including one small closed tear to the upper rear fold area, approx 1/4". Colors are bright and unsoiled, having been protected over the years by the non-archival protector, which has left a few very small dark spots, mostly to the flap & map area's. Edges of the text block are clean with one ink spot on top edge which doesn't penetrate the pages.
A beautiful copy, of an early printing, of this much sought after children's classic.
