The middle four books in the 12 volume series, of The History of Middle Earth, comprised of #5 The Lost Road and other writings, #6 The Return of the Shadow, #7 The Treason of Isengard, and #8 The War of the Ring.

All 4 volumes in Near Fine condition in Near Fine dustjackets.

Only the lightest of rubbing to the dustjackets, no chipping or loss to any.
An outstanding set for the collector. Unwin Hyman first printings of the middle 4 volumes, none of the 4 volumes are price clipped. Points of issue on the 4 books are as follows: Price on dustjacket #5, #6, #7, & #8. No names or writing in any of the books. No foxing or offsetting in any of the books. All of these books are clean and bright, unfoxed, and unmarked.

The first four books, published by Allen & Unwin have the topstain on the top edge, while these four published by Unwin Hyman do not.

Housed in a custom slipcase to show and protect these lovely copies.
Edited by Christopher Tolkien from his father's manuscripts, detailing the evolution of Tolkien's life long works dealing with Middle Earth.
